FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. — The Carthage women's bowling team advanced one spot on the leaderboard over Carroll this Saturday afternoon at the Bearcat Hammer Open hosted by McKendree.

The Firebirds (2-8) grabbed their first traditional match win of the season, rolling 4,120 pins for the day with a total of 8,219 pins dropped for the tournament, an average of 164.4. Arkansas State still holds the overall lead with 9,620 total pinfall and average of 192.4.

The Firebirds bowled three traditional games over 800 today, with a top score of 880 coming from their no. 4 match.

Carthage faces off against North Central in a head-to-head best of seven baker match play tomorrow morning.
