KENOSHA, Wis. -— In their first home matches of the 2020 season, the Carthage College men's tennis team fell to Luther College 5-4 before defeating Concordia University 8-1 on Sunday at the Life Sport Athletic Club.

In game one of the day, Luther College (3-0) claimed the first two doubles matches to finish at courts one and three, before the duo of Zizi Amadike and Matt Krzewinski defeated their opponents 8-6.

At court six in singles, John Nykyforuk tied the dual match at 2-2 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory, before Luther reclaimed the lead on wins at courts two and four. Amadike kept the Red Men (2-2) in it with a 7-6 (3), 6-4 win at court three, before the visitors claimed their fifth point at court one. Krzewinski closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win at court five to set the final score at 5-4 in favor of Luther College.

In match two of the day, the Red Men swept the doubles against Concordia (1-3), led by Amadike and Krzewinski who remain undefeated in four matches so far this season. In singles, Andre Antreassian won the first match of the contest 6-2, 6-1 at court four, with Amadike clinching it for Carthage at court three to make it 5-0. After Concordia won at court two, Daniel Moore won his match at the lead court to make it 6-1. To close out the dual match, Krzewinski and Nykyforuk won at courts five and six respectively to give the Red Men an 8-1 victory.

Up next for Carthage, the Red Men will take on Edgewood College on the road at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 15 before facing Wisconsin-La Crosse at 3:30 p.m.
