HOLLAND, Mich. – The Carthage College men's swimming and diving team defeated Hope in the final dual match of the season 169-110 Friday evening at the Kresge Natatorium of Dow Center.
The Red Men had 11 first place victories on the day and were led by Cooper Hawkins who came away with three individual wins in the 200-yard butterfly, 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley.
Nick Nevins took first place in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard butterfly while Mitchell Mages collected first in the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard freestyle.
Mitchel Steinke clocked a first place time of 21.60 in the 50-yard freestyle,
Ethan Hare tallied a personal-best 2:02.49 in the 200-yard backstroke while
Nick Seroni won the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:57.98.
In relay events, the team of Seroni, Mages, Steinke and Wilson Burton took first in the 200-yard medley relay. Later in the meet, Steinke, Mages, Nevins and Burton collected first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:25.05.
Connor Pierson recorded a first place score of 274.65 in the one-meter diving event.
Carthage turns their attention to the CCIW Championships which begins on February 20 at 10:30 a.m.
