Carthage entered the game at #4 on the April 25 NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region Ranking.

The Lady Reds fall to 22-10, 8-4 CCIW while UW-Whitewater also exited Thursday with a 22-10, 7-3 CCIW mark.

The opening four innings resulted in a 10-0 lead for UW-Whitewater, but Carthage put an end to the eight-run mercy rule with a six-run fifth inning, where they batted around the lineup. Three of Carthage's fifth-inning runs occurred on Madison Ganir's bases-loaded single up the middle that sailed past the UW-Whitewater centerfielder, which cut the score to 10-3 and sent her to third base. Donna Stevens drove-in Ganir with a double to center field to narrow the Lady Reds' deficit to 10-4. A pair of UW-Whitewater errors turned into Carthage runs, courtesy of Stevens and Koziczkowski en route to a 10-6 score.

Stevens, Ganir and Brooke Sefcik each had hits for the Lady Reds. Naomi Alonzo, Ellie Bernero and Madison Kern each saw time in the pitching circle for Carthage and combined to give up 11 hits and four walks.

Emily Rux and Kaiden Jackson each notched two hits at the plate for UW-Whitewater.

UW-Whitewater 4, Lady Reds 0 (8 Innings)

Lady Reds pitcher Stefanie Guercio surrendered five hits and four runs (two earned), and struckout four batters in the hard-fought loss. Donna Stevens notched Carthage's lone hit at the plate.

The score remained 0-0 after seven innings before three Lady Reds errors in the eighth inning proved costly in a 4-0 loss to UW-Whitewater. Bella Matthias tallied nine strikeouts and allowed one hit in the complete-game pitching victory for the Warhawks.

The Lady Reds will host Illinois Wesleyan (DH) on Saturday, April 27 at 1:00 p.m.
