CWPA RECAP

NEW LONDON, CONN.—The Carthage College women's water polo team was in pursuit of their sixth-straight third place standing at the CWPA Tournament on Sunday afternoon against Monmouth College. The Lady Reds saw that streak end at five with a 12-7 loss to Monmouth College in the 2019 CWPA Tournament Third Place Game at Connecticut College's Lott Natatorium in New London, Connecticut.

Carthage ends their season with a 4-15 overall record, while Monmouth's third-place finish gives them a 7-11 overall record. Beginning in 2020, CWPA teams will have an opportunity to compete for a National Championship against Division III's other water polo conference, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

Lady Reds junior goalie Emma Jeronimus (first team) and sophomore center Maddi Marsh (second team) each landed a spot on the 2019 All-CWPA Tournament Team for their stellar performances.

Monmouth 12, Lady Reds 7 (Box Score)

Jeronimus cemented her name onto the all-tournament team with a 16-save performance against the Scots. Maddi Marsh continued to roll as one of the top Division III water polo players with two goals, while teammates Arianna Dakuras and Meghan Fisher also each chipped in a pair for Carthage. Sophie Flott also contributed a goal for the Lady Reds.

Monmouth's Becca Dabrowski, who was named CWPA Tournament MVP, tallied six goals in Monmouth's victory over the Lady Reds. Scots goalie Natalie Garcia notched nine saves.

Carthage carries no seniors on their roster and will return everyone with a full head of steam for the 2020 campaign.
