Lady Reds Pick Up First CWPA Win Against Wittenberg, Fall to Monmouth

SPRINGFIELD, OHIO.—The Carthage College women's water polo team opened the CWPA portion of their 2019 schedule at the West Region I Tournament, hosted by first-year program Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. Wittenberg University and Monmouth College awaited the Lady Reds on the front end of the tournament on Saturday. Carthage posted their first victory of the season in a 7-4 decision over Wittenberg, followed by a 15-6 loss to Monmouth College.
 
The split gives the Lady Reds a 1-5, 1-1 CWPA record.

A pair of Lady Reds posted a two-goal performance, courtesy of Maddi Marsh and Sophie Flott. Arianna Dakuras, Morgan Fingerson and Kayli Sayatovic each contributed a goal for the Lady Reds.
 
The Carthage defense allowed the least goals in a game all season as the Tigers tallied just four goals. Emma Jeronimus was credited with the complete-game victory in net.

The Scots, who notched a 13-10 victory over the Lady Reds at last week's Macalester Invitational, were led by Becca Dabrowski's seven goals. Meghan Fisher and Maddi Marsh each scored two goals for the Lady Reds, while Fingerson and Flott each had one.
 
Jeronimus got the goalkeeping start for the Lady Reds, who take on Austin College (8:00 a.m. ET) and Macalester College (1:45 p.m. ET) tomorrow, Sunday, March 3 in Springfield, Ohio.
