2019 ROSTER
KENOSHA, WIS.—It's that time of the year where the Carthage College women's water polo team typically opens their 2019 season, which will be the case on Saturday, February 23 at the Riley Pool/Leonard Natatorium, home of the Macalester College Invitational in St. Paul, Minnesota. The Lady Reds will square-off against Virginia Military Institute at 9:30 a.m., followed by an afternoon-affair against SCIAC member University of Redlands at 3:30 p.m. Carthage will conclude the two-day tournament on Sunday, February 24 against Monmouth College at 10:00 a.m., and Redlands at 3:00 p.m.
Â
Youth will make up Carthage's 2019 roster as they'll carry seven freshmen and no seniors on their 12-person roster. Junior goalkeeper
Emma Jeronimus, the 2018 Lady Reds MVP, is expected to take that next step in becoming one of the top netminders in Division III women's water polo. Also anchoring the Lady Reds defense will be junior defender
Morgan Fingerson.
Heather Walker rounds out Carthage's junior class while
Maddi Marsh and
Arianna Dakuras make up the sophomores.
Â
Alyssa Schwarz,
Izzy Bertaud,
Autumn Rajevich-Schwer,
Sophie Flott,
Grace Sakry,
Kayli Sayatovic and
Meghan Fisher complete the seven-person freshman class. Five of the seven freshmen (Schwarz, Bertaud, Rajevich-Schwer, Flott, Sakry) are also members of the 2018-19 CCIW Championship Lady Reds swimming & diving team.
Â
The 2019 Lady Reds schedule will have a different flavor to it with the addition of Wittenberg University and Austin College as the CWPA will be split into a west and east division. The west division will consist of Carthage, Wittenberg, Monmouth, Austin and Macalester. The east division will be Connecticut College, Washington & Jefferson, Penn State Behrend, Grove City College and Utica College. Each squad will face a team from their division twice before all 10 teams will clash at the 2019 CWPA Tournament on April 12-14 in New London, Connecticut.
Â
Carthage's first batch of CWPA games will be played on March 2-3 in Springfield, Ohio (Wittenberg). The second set of CWPA matches will take place on March 30-31 in St. Paul, Minnesota (Macalester).
