Carthage Takes Home Opener over Illinois Wesleyan and Illinois Tech

KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College men's swimming and diving team beat Illinois Wesleyan (192-63) and Illinois Tech (143.50-118.50) in the season's home swim meet Saturday at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center.

The Red Men had eight first-place finishes on the day as Mitchell Mages collected first in the 200-yard freestyle, 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard IM. Mages was also a swimmer of the 200-yard medley relay team who recorded first with Jake Darlinger, Nick Seroni and Nick Nevins with a clocked time of 1:36.17. 

Cooper Hawkins placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle and 200-yard backstroke while Darlinger took second in the 200-yard freestyle. 

Nick Nevins took first in the 100-yard free while the relay team of Ross Wilson, Wilson Burton, Darlinger and Seroni finished first with a time of 1:27.45 in the 200-yard freestyle. 

Carthage stays at home facing North Central and Carroll (Wis.) on Saturday, November 23 starting at 12 p.m.
