NAPERVILLE, ILL.—Recent snow fall provoked the Carthage College softball team to move their home doubleheader against North Central College (Ill.) to the Shanower Family Softball Field in Naperville, Illinois on Tuesday. The last-minute move didn't work in the Lady Reds' favor as they fell to North Central (Ill.) by scores of 5-2 and 2-1.
The losses drop Carthage's record to 13-15, 3-3 CCIW while North Central stays undefeated in conference play with a 20-2, 6-0 CCIW mark.
North Central (Ill.) 5, Lady Reds 2
The Cardinals and Lady Reds each pounded seven hits in the contest. Carthage capitalized on the game's first hit, which produced a run.
Alessia Knowski accomplished that feat when she drove in
Jennifer Michuda, who led off the inning with a walk, to give the Lady Reds a 1-0 advantage.
The Cardinals responded with a four-run fourth inning en route to a 4-1 lead, highlighted by Anna Seffernick's three-run double. Both teams traded runs in the sixth inning to make the score 5-2, where things went final.
Naomi Alonzo led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a double, advanced to third base off a wild pitch, then scored off
Ellie Bernero's RBI-single to narrow North Central's lead to 5-2.

Stefanie Guercio and Alonzo teamed up to allow five runs on seven hits, and strikeout seven batters in the game. Bernero and
Brooke Sefcik each tallied two hits for the Lady Reds offense.

Lady Reds pitcher Bernero allowed two runs on five hits and struckout five batters in the contest. Her blemish occurred off Samantha Phelps' two-run single in the fifth inning that gave North Central a 2-0 lead.
Sefcik led off the top of the seventh inning with her fifth home run of the season to cut Carthage's deficit to 2-1, but her team couldn't muster another hit. Sefcik,
