NEW LONDON, CONN.—The Carthage College water polo team concluded the four-game Collegiate Water Polo Association I Tournament at the Lott Natatorium in New London, Conn. on Sunday, where they faced Washington & Jefferson College. The Lady Reds kept the President's winless 2018 season intact with a 13-6 victory. This marks Carthage's first victory over Washington & Jefferson since March 15, 2014 when they tallied a 9-8 decision in Utica, N.Y.
"The senior class knew it may be the last time they ever play this team and were determined to break this streak," said Lady Reds head water polo coach
Laura Coffman.
The victory ups Carthage's record to 4-8, 2-2 CWPA while Washington & Jefferson remains winless in 2018 with an 0-7 mark.

Mae Van Beest led the Carthage attack with five goals in the contest, while
Jessica Graziano and
Allie Boothe each registered a hat trick.
Jane Eckles and
Lauren Patt rounded out the Lady Reds scorers with a goal each.
Emma Jeronimus, who contributed four assists in the contest, came up with 17 stops in net for Carthage. Lexie Gartner and Paige Adams each registered two goals for the Washington & Jefferson offense.
The Lady Reds will return to action on Saturday, March 24 – Sunday, March 25 at the CWPA Tournament II at the Pepper Natatorium in Monmouth, Ill.
