KENOSHA, WIS.—The Carthage College women's water polo team wrapped up the two-day Carthage College Tournament at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center on Sunday morning. Macalester's 6-0 cushion with 3:39 left in the second quarter was too much to overcome for Carthage as they dropped an 11-5 decision. Freshman
Mae Van Beest paced all Lady Reds in the contest with a pair of goals.

Mack Ryan and
Jessica Graziano each contributed goals for the Carthage offense while
Emma Jeronimus clocked-in 14 saves for the complete-game loss in net.
The loss drops Carthage's record to 2-6, 0-0 CWPA while the Scots stay undefeated at 3-0, 0-0 CWPA.

The Scots opened the contest with a 6-0 run capped by Cara Mullery's goal on the breakaway with 3:39 left in the second quarter.
Mack Ryan put an end to that run when she received a pool-length pass from Jeronimus in front of the Macalester net, where she put a shot past Scots' goalkeeper Courtney Overland with 0:02 left on the clock to make the score 6-1 at halftime.
Macalester widened their lead to 8-1 with 7:00 left in the third before Carthage answered the bell.
Jessica Graziano, who was on Overland's right, took a feed from
Elyssa Hawkins and finished with a goal to narrow the score to 8-2 with 3:51 left in the third.
The Scots widened their advantage to 9-2 after the third quarter. Carthage outscored Macalester 3-2 in the fourth thanks to
Mae Van Beest's two goals down the stretch, as well as
Arianna Dakuras' goal. The late-game success wasn't enough as Carthage settled for an 11-5 loss.
The Lady Reds will return to action on Friday, March 9 – Sunday, March 11 at the 2018 CWPA Tournament I at the Lott Natatorium in New London, Conn.
