ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Carthage College Red Men finished their weekend in Rock Island, Illinois on Saturday, as the men's tennis team took third place at the 2017 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Men's Tennis Championship with a win over Millikin University, 5-3.
The win ends the men's season at 13-13 overall and avenges the loss to the Big Blue during the regular season in Decatur. Millikin's season comes to a close at 15-6.
Carthage opened the day trailing after
Herman Abban and
Pawel Jaworski earned the lone doubles win in the number-one spot.
The Red Men rebounded strongly in the singles competition however, as wins by
Pawel Jaworski,
Chris Conley,
Lukasz Jaworski and
Fordy Leipold sealed the match.
Abban's number-one singles match went unfinished, keeping his singles win total at 30 on the season.
