WASHINGTON, PA.—The Carthage College water polo squads participated in day two of the CWPA League Tournament II on Saturday, where they faced Grove City College and CWPA leader Washington & Jefferson College. The Lady Reds completed their season sweep of Grove City College with a 14-8 win behind four-goal performances from
Jessica Graziano and
Carly Strass. Carthage fell to host Washington & Jefferson 10-7 in the nightcap.

Saturday's split gives the Lady Reds a 12-4, 10-3 CWPA record. Grove City falls to 4-15, 3-10 CWPA while Washington & Jefferson improves to 14-4, 13-1 CWPA.

Carthage trailed the Wolverines 5-4 at halftime before a seven-goal third-quarter propelled them to an 11-6 advantage. The Lady Reds edged Grove City College 3-2 in the final frame to secure a 14-8 win.

Strass and Graziano led the Carthage offense with four goals a piece while
Maggie Hennigan added a hat trick.
Allie Boothe tallied a pair of goals while
Jane Eckles contributed one.

The Presidents led as much as 9-3 after the third quarter. Carthage mounted a fourth-quarter comeback, but it was too late in a 10-7 loss.

Hennigan netted a hat trick for the Carthage offense while Boothe and Eckles each chipped in two goals.Â
Emma Jeronimus tallied six saves in the complete-game goalkeeping effort for the Lady Reds.

Carthage will face Penn State Behrend on the final day of the CWPA League Tournament II tomorrow, Sunday, April 9 at 9:00 a.m. (ET).Â
