WASHINGTON, PA.—The Carthage College water polo squad participated in day one of the CWPA League Tournament II on Friday, where they defeated Connecticut College 12-4 and Utica College 13-3. The victories give Carthage an 11-3, 9-2 CWPA record, and a season-sweep of both schools.

Lady Reds 12, Connecticut College 4

Carthage registered a 3-0 lead after the first quarter before Connecticut College mustered three of their own in the second. It wasn't enough as the Lady Reds tallied five-second quarter goals en route to an 8-3 halftime lead. Carthage outscored the Camels 4-1 in the second half to secure a 12-4 victory.

Maggie Hennigan and
Jessica Graziano each netted a hat trick for the Carthage offense.
Carly Strass,
Allie Boothe and
Jane Eckles each contributed a pair of goals to round out the Lady Reds scorers.

Lady Reds 13, Utica 3
Â
Carthage cruised to a 10-0 advantage over Utica at halftime. The Pioneers registered their first goal in the third quarter, but it was too late as Carthage hung onto a 13-3 win.

Eckles notched a four-goal game for the Lady Reds while Graziano, Strass and Boothe each contributed two.

Morgan Fingerson each tallied a goal for the Carthage offense. Goalkeeper
Emma Jeronimus tallied 16 saves for the Lady Reds.

Carthage will return to action tomorrow, Saturday April 8 on day two of the CWPA League Tournament II. The Lady Reds will face Grove City College at 1:00 p.m. (ET) and Washington & Jefferson at 6:20 p.m. (ET) at the Henry Memorial Natatorium in Washington, Pa.Â
