ST. PAUL, MINN.—The Carthage College water polo team participated in the Collegiate Water Polo Association Division III Tournament at the Macalester College Riley Pool/Leonard Natatorium on Saturday. The #3 Lady Reds faced #6 Penn State Behrend in the CWPA Division III Quarterfinals. Carthage defeated the Lions 10-5 in the quarterfinals before their semfinal matchup with host Macalester College. The Lady Reds couldn't generate offense in a 10-2 semifinal loss to the Scots.Â

The Lady Reds will now face #4 Connecticut College in the CWPA Division III Tournament Third Place Game tomorrow, Sunday, April 23 at 11:40 a.m.

Maggie Hennigan registered a hat trick for the Lady Reds' offense while
Carly Strass,
Jane Eckles and
Allie Boothe each contributed two. Â Strass also commanded the Lady Reds' defense with seven steals in the contest. Hennigan also contributed a pair of steals to Carthage's defense.

Emma Jeronimus, who tallied 11 saves in the contest, earned player of the game accolades.

The Lady Reds, who defeated Macalester 10-6 on March 25, couldn't make it two in a row as they fell to the Scots 10-2.Â

Allie Boothe paced Carthage on both ends of the pool with one goal and two steals. Hennigan and Strass also contributed a pair of steals to the Carthage defense.
