OSHKOSH, WIS.—The Carthage College softball team played #17 UW-Oshkosh (DH) in a non-conference road game on Thursday afternoon. The Lady Reds' 13-game win streak came to an end with 6-2 and 5-1 losses to the Titans.

The losses drop Carthage's record to 22-10, 11-1 CCIW while UW-Oshkosh, who's ranked #1 on the first 2017 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Ranking, improve to 22-6.

Darian Pelsor gave Carthage their lone lead of the contest with a second-inning home run over the left-field fence to make the score 1-0. Claire Petrus responded for UW-Oshkosh in the bottom of the second inning when she doubled home Natalie Dudek, who singled, to tie the game 1-1.

Erika Berry set the tone for UW-Oshkosh in the third inning when she reached first base on a Carthage error, and second on a wild pitch. Kaitlyn Krol's single up the middle plated Berry to give the Titans a 2-1 lead.

Claire Petrus's solo home run in the fourth inning, followed by Krol's three-run home run in the fifth inning gave UW-Oshkosh a 6-1 cushion.

Kayla Uhwat-Vicicondi hit a sharp double to right field, and scored off Pelsor's single up the middle to narrow the Titans' lead to 6-2.

Katie Herron gave up seven hits and struck out three batters in five innings of work.
Rachel Fanella pitched a scoreless sixth inning for Carthage. Pelsor went 3-for-3 with two runs batted in for the Lady Reds.

Uhwat led off the first inning with a walk before she advanced to third base off
Vivian Juarez's sacrifice bunt, and
Kristine Herdegen's single. Pelsor continued her stellar day when she plated Uhwat with a single to give Carthage a 1-0 lead.

The Titans took the lead for good in the second inning when Natalie Dillon and Amanda McIllany notched back-to-back RBI singles to make the score 2-1. UW-Oshkosh iced the cake with three runs in the sixth inning to secure a 5-1 win over the Lady Reds.

Amy Goldsmith surrendered seven hits and walked one batter in a complete-game effort.

Carthage will return to action on Saturday, April 22 when they host Illinois Wesleyan University (DH) at 1:00 p.m.
