NEW LONDON, CONN.—The Carthage College women's water polo team faced Penn State-Behrend, Washington & Jefferson College and Macalester College on day two of the CWPA League Tournament I on Saturday. The Lady Reds found themselves on the winning end of a 15-6 score in the morning cap with Penn State-Behrend. Washington & Jefferson, ranked #1 on the March 22 CWPA Division III Poll, edged Carthage 6-4 in game two. The Lady Reds ended the day with a 10-6 win over Macalester College. Carthage previously fell to Macalester 10-9 on March 5 at the Monmouth College Tournament.  Â

Saturday's results improved Carthage's record to 8-3, 6-2 CWPA.

Maggie Hennigan went a perfect five-for-five on penalty shots while
Allie Boothe went three-for-four.
Carly Strass went three-for-seven on penalty shots while
Jane Eckles converted on two. Lady Reds goalkeeper
Emma Jeronimus registered five steals in the contest.

Washington & Jefferson 6, Lady Reds 4

The Lady Reds held a 3-2 lead at halftime, but couldn't hold onto it in a 6-4 loss.

Madi Anderson each contributed a goal to the Carthage offense. Liz Klock led the Presidents' offense with a pair of goals. Â Â

Lady Reds 10, Macalester 6

Boothe paced the Carthage offense with three goals while Eckles converted on two penalty shots. Strass added two goals to round out the Lady Reds with multiple scores in the contest. Hennigan, Ryan and Larsen each tallied a goal for the Carthage offense.

The Lady Reds held Macalester to zero goals in the second half.

Carthage will conclude the CWPA League Tournament I with a bout against Utica College tomorrow, Sunday March 26 at 10:20 a.m. (ET).Â
