NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin announced Wednesday that Carthage College's
Herman Abban has been named the CCIW Men's Tennis Player of the Week.
The honor is the first of his career and the first by a Carthage player this season.
Abban, a junior from Accra, Ghana, went 4-0 between No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles over the weekend, which moved his record to 12-0 this spring. He teamed with
Pawel Jaworski at No. 1 doubles and beat Hope's Mark VanderStoep and Christian Rhoades (8-1) and Wabash's William Reifeis and Patrick McAuley (8-3). Abban also beat Reifeis (6-3, 6-3) and Hope's Michael Kiley (6-2, 6-3) at No. 1 singles.
Herman and the Red Men return to action this weekend in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with matches against Cornell College and Coe College on Friday and Saturday respectively.
