LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The #22 Carthage College Red Men won their first dual meet of the 2017-18 season on Saturday, topping Lake Forest College in north Chicago, 142-91.
Nicholas Wolff turned in a pair of first place finishes on the evening to lead the Red Men in the individual events. Â Wolff took first in the 800 free [9:05.20] to start the night for the Red Men and followed that up with the 400 free [4:26.27].
Six other Red Men won their respective events, beginning with
Nicholas Nevins, who proved to be the fastest man in the pool on the night, winning the 50 free [24.49]. Â Joining Nevins and Wolff with wins to lead the Red Men were defending CCIW Swimmer of the Week
Mitchell Mages in the 200 IM [2:13.55],
Nick Seroni in the 100 butterfly [1:00.52],
Chris Russo in the 100 free [54.50],
Sam Gabriel in the 100 backstroke [58.99] and
Cooper Hawkins in the 100 breaststroke [1:08.07]
The Carthage College A team of Nevins,
Paul Devereux, Russo and
Jack Wallar also claimed the top spit in the 200 free relay to conclude the night [1:38.17].
The Red Men will return to the pool next weekend for a two day event at Calvin College for the Calvin Invitational. Â Events are scheduled to begin Friday, November 3rd at 6:00 p.m.
