ERIE, Pa. – Carthage College water polo went 1-1 on Saturday at the Collegiate Water Polo Association's second tournament of the season at the Junker Center Pool on the campus of Penn State Behrend.
The Lady Reds (12-2, 10-2 CWPA) defeated Grove City College, 18-5, before falling in their second game of the day to Connecticut College, 14-5.
Carthage opened the day with a dominating performance that saw eight different Lady Reds score goal in the win.
Erin McCook couldn't miss, literally, as she scored five goals on her five shots in the match.
Allie Boothe tallied three goals and
Amanda Boothe had two, while Anna Shrirer finished with six assists in goal.
In the second match of the day for the Lady Reds, Connecticut College jumped on Carthage early with four goals in the first quarter and three in the second to take a 7-1 lead into the half.
After falling behind by nine, 10-1, the Lady Reds cut it to seven at 10-3 but were unable to get any closer as the Camels outscored Carthage down the stretch.
Amanda Boothe was the lone multi-goal scorer for the Lady Reds with two goals and
Carly Strass,
Malea Fischer and McCook each had one.
The Lady Reds conclude their 2016 regular season tomorrow, Sunday, April 3rd with matches against Washington and Jefferson at 11:40 AM and Penn State Behrend at 2:20 PM.
