NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Carthage College Lady Reds concluded their 2016 season in successful fashion topping Penn State-Behrend in the Collegiate Water Polo Association's third place game Sunday, 14-11.
 
The win wraps up the Lady Reds' season at 15-4 overall while dropping the Lions to 7-18.
 
The Lady Reds, who took a 6-4 lead into the half, never let the Lions get closer in the match as they continued to build on their lead in the second half with an 8-7 scoring advantage to take the match by three goals.
 
Carthage controlled the water throughout the match behind 
Allie Boothe's five goals to lead all scorers in the game.  
Jane Eckles added a hat-trick with goals in the first, second and fourth periods and 
Amanda Boothe and 
Brittany Wallace each had a pair of goals.
 
Defensively, 
Allie Boothe led the Lady Reds with six steals for Carthage, while 
Anna Shirer finished the match with five saves in goal.
 
Following the conclusion of the CWPA DIII Championship, Allie Booth was named to the all-tournament second team, logging eight goals in the Lady Reds' three games during the weekend.
