ERIE, Pa. – The Carthage College women's water polo team opened their weekend at second College Water Polo Association tournament of the season in impressive fashion, dominating Utica College in a 21-3 win Friday morning.

The Lady Reds, 11-1 overall and 9-1 in the CWPA, came out in a fury, going up 8-0 after the first period and eventually extending the lead to 11-0 before Utica could get on the board with their first goal coming with 3:38 remaining in the first half.

Jane Eckles paced the Lady Reds with five goals on seven shots and added a two steals and a team-high three assists.Â
Allie Boothe,
Amanda Boothe,
Laura Larsen and Morgan each scored twice with
Amanda Boothe and Strass leading Carthage with three steals apiece.

Rounding out the scoring for the Lady Reds were
Elyssa Hawkins and
Erin McCook with one goal each.
The loss sends the Pioneers to 0-8 on the season and finishes off the two-game season sweep in the Lady Reds favor.

The Lady Reds will now get plenty of rest as they are done for the day following the first match of the tournament and will return to action for two games tomorrow against Grove City College at 1:00 PM, followed by Connecticut College at 7:40 PM.
