ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Carthage College women's water polo team moved to 3-0 in 2016 and 2-0 in the Collegiate Water Polo Association following a sweep of the competition Saturday at Macalester College where the Lady Reds knocked off Caltech, Macalester and Monmouth College.Â

The Lady Reds opened their day with a 21-6 win over Caltech in which every player that made the trip scored a goal in the game. The Lady Reds clamped down on the defensive end as
Carly Strass had six steals, and
Amanda Boothe and
Jane Eckles had four each. Strass also added a game-high four assists in the game.

Next, the Lady Reds overcame foul troubles in the 12-8 win over Macalester, holding the Scots to 2-of-7 on power play opportunities while
Anna Shirer made a save on a 5-meter penalty shot and had seven total saves in the game. Offensively, the Lady Reds were powered by Am. Boothe, Strass and
Brittany Wallace, each of whom had a hat-trick.

In the win of the day over Monmouth,
Allie Boothe scored six goals to pace the Lady Reds to as 16-9 win. Wallace added five goals and
Colleen Koepke had two to round-out Carthage's top scorers. Shirer made a day-high eight saves in the final game and
Laura Larsen and Strass led the Carthage defense with four and five steals respectively

The Lady Reds continue action in St. Paul Sunday with rematches against Caltech at 8:00 AM and Monmouth at 12:00 PM at Macalester's Riley Pool and Leonard Natatorium.
