JANESVILLE, Wis. – The Carthage College men's tennis team remained perfect in 2016 with wins Sunday over Edgewood College and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Sunday at Premier Tennis and Fitness.
Carthage opened the day with a 9-0 sweep of Edgewood, before topping La Crosse 7-2.
Alex Boomgarden and
Ryan Jump, as well as the brothers duo of
Pawel Jaworski and
Lukasz Jaworski won their doubles matches to open the action against Edgewood, 8-5 and 8-2 respectively, while
Fordy Leipold and
Brandon Stassen won by forfeit. In singles action Carthage cruised to straight set wins as Jump, P. Jaworski, and Leipold along with
Chris Conley and
Alex Ferruzzi won their matches. Stassen won by forfeit in the six singles match.
La Crosse tested the Red Men to open the second match of the day with close games in doubles two and three match which Jump and Boomgarden, and Ferruzzi and L. Jaworski both won 8-6. P. Jaworski and Conley won their one doubles match 8-3. Carthage clinched the match quickly in the singles competition as Boomgarden, Jump, P. Jaworski and Conley won the singles one through four matches. The Eagles took the singles five and six matches.
Carthage heads to Michigan next weekend for three matches as the Red Men will face Hope College Friday, February 19th and Kalamazoo College and Wabash College Saturday, February 20th.
