KENOSHA, Wis. – The Carthage College women's swimming took back to the pool on Saturday, October 29
th against Lake Forest at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center. The Red Men come out on top of Lake Forest, 186-101.
In the 400 yard medley relay Carthage's
Heather Walker,
Hannah Miles,
Mattea Arndt, and Becca Rutowski came in first with a time of 4:07.45. The b-team from Carthage of
Brooke Garrett,
Shae Taylor,
Esmeralda Perez, and
DeAnn Jones came in ahead of the Lake Forest squad as well with a time of 4:12.03.
Carthage also won the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:40.42. Team members included Madeline Hoover, Gianna Mcguire,
DeAnn Jones, and Becca Rutknowski.
Individual champions for the day included Becca Rutkowski in the 200 yard freestyle [2:01.51],
Hannah Miles in the 100 yard breaststroke [1:09.28], Miles in the 200 yard breaststroke [2.32.18], and
Esmeralda Perez in the 100 yard butterfly [1:01.76],
Mattea Arndt took first in two events including the 200 yard butterfly [2:16.39] and 200 IM [2:15.59].
Jones came out strong for the Lady Reds as well with a pair of wins in the women's 50 yard freestyle [24.86] and in the 100 yard freestyle [55.74].
Carthage's
Zoe Rodriguez placed first in the 1 meter diving competition with a total score of 255.50. Rodriguez was accompanied by
Hailey Hathaway in fourth with a score of 147.90.
Next up Carthage, the swim teams will head to Grand Rapids, Michigan for their first two-day invite of the season as they compete at the 2016 Calvin College Invitational November 4th and 5th.
