Women's Water Polo Goes 4-3 at the March 20-22 CWPA Tournament I

The Carthage College women's water polo team (4-3, 4-3 Collegiate Water Polo Association) went 4-3 at the Friday-Sunday, March 20-22 Collegiate Water Polo Association Tournament I at Monmouth College's Pepper Natatorium in Monmouth, Ill. 

Carthage defeated Penn State-Behrend, 8-1, on Friday, March 20 before losing to No. 9 Washington & Jefferson College by a 15-7 margin and falling to Macalester College, 8-7.  On Saturday, March 21, Carthage defeated Grove City College, 10-4, before losing to No. 6 Connecticut College by a 14-7 margin.  On Sunday, March 22, Carthage defeated Utica College, 8-5, before edging Monmouth, 4-3.
 
In the Penn State-Behrend match, Samantha Craig (Sr., Chicago Ridge, Ill./Oak Lawn-Richards) scored two goals, and Kelly Baumgartner (Sr., Orland Hills, Ill./Tinley Park-Andrew) collected two assists.  Brittany Wallace (Jr., Niles, Ill./Wilmette-Loyola Academy) scored four goals in the loss to Washington & Jefferson, with Baumgartner and Laura Larsen (So., Buffalo Grove, Ill./Lincolnshire-Stevenson) each getting two assists.  Ashley McGhee (Sr., Chicago, Ill./Lane Tech) collected 12 saves.  In the Macalester contest, Craig and Allie Booth (Fr., Wauconda, Ill./Mundelein) each scored two goals, with McGhee collecting 13 saves.
 
In the win over Grove City, Wallace and Colleen Koepke (Jr., Chicago, Ill./Resurrection) both scored three goals, while Carly Strass (So., Western Springs, Ill./La Grange-Lyons Township) collected four assists.  Craig scored three goals against Connecticut, while McGhee collected 4 saves.  In the Utica game, Koepke scored two goals with three assists, and Mack Ryan (Fr., Libertyville, Ill.) each scored twice. In the win over Monmouth, Larsen scored twice, Aly Sifuentes (Fr., Tinley Park, Ill./Andrew) collected three assists, and goalkeeper Anna Shirer (So., Homewood, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) was credited with 12 saves.
