The Carthage College men's swimming team (1-3 dual-meet record) lost to Lewis University, 172-90, on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis.  The Lewis meet was originally scheduled for the Lewis Swimming Pool, but that facility suffered a burst heating pipe in early-January.

Carthage's Chris Riordan (Fr., Skokie, Ill./Niles North) finished second in both the 100 breaststroke (1:01.01) and the 200 breastroke (2:15.98), and Nick Sall (Fr., Zeeland, Mich./West) was second in the both the 200 backstroke (2:02.84) and 200 individual medley.  Eric Primdahl (Sr., Kildeer, Ill./Arlington Heights-St. Viator) was second in the 200 freestyle (1:49.38) as was James Hill (Fr., Prospect Heights, Ill./Arlington Heights-Hersey) in the 100 backstroke (55.73), James Weslaski (Fr., Racine, Wis./Case) in the 50 freestyle (22.25) and Lee Hollman (Fr., Fort Atkinson, Wis.) in the 100 freestyle (48.85).  The Red Men's 200 medley relay team, while finishing third, turned in their fastest time of the season at 1:38.92, and Lee Hollman's lead-off split was the seventh-best in Carthage history.

"I've been telling everyone all year," said Carthage coach Greg Earhart, that Brad Kessler is going to break out.  He did today and shattered his lifetime bests in both the 100 and the 200 breaststroke.  He's going to be a factor at the CCIW Swimming Championship."

Carthage returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 18 by playing host to Wheaton College (Ill.) in an 11 a.m. dual meet at the Koenitzer Aquatic Center in Kenosha, Wis.
