The Carthage College men's tennis team (4-3, 0-0 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) lost to Wisconsin-La Crosse (11-4), 7-2, on Sunday, March 10 at the Cherokee Country Club indoor courts in Madison, Wis.
Carthage's
Jeff Lotz Jr. (Sr., Racine, Wis./Horlick, 11-6) lost to Wisconsin-La Crosse's Kevin McMillen at No. 1 singles, McMillen winning, 2-6, 6-4 and 10-8.
Alex Boomgarden (Fr., Fitchburg, Wis./Verona Area, 12-4) defeated the Eagles' Vic Mirasola at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 6-4, and
Ryan Jump (Fr., Mundelein, Ill., 11-3) won at No. 3 singles.
Juan Robles (So., Bogota, Columbia, 3-7) fell at No. 4 singles, as did
Brian Howes (Sr., Bartlett, Ill., 12-5) at No. 5 singles matches and
Tom Klassman (Sr., Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove, 6-7) at No 6 singles.
Carthage's No. 1 doubles team of Lotz and Boomgarden (9-6) lost to UW-La Crosse's Kevin McMillen/Stefan DeLong, 8-5. The No. 2 doubles team of
Conor Moon (So., Sussex, Wis./Woodstock (Ill.)-Marian Central Catholic) and
Brandon Curtis (Jr., Crystal Lake, Ill./Prairie Ridge, 4-5) lost, as did the Red Men's No. 3 tandem of Howes and Jump (6-4).
Carthage travels to Elkhorn, Wis., on Friday, March 15 to play Wisconsin-Whitewater in a 5 p.m. match at the at the Four Lakes Athletic Club
