The Carthage College men's swimming team (4-4 dual-meet record) lost both ends of a Saturday, Jan. 9 triangular meet at the University of Chicago's Ratner Athletic Center. The Red Men lost to the host-Maroons, 168-69, and fell to Kalamazoo College by a 134-84 margin. Carthage's Kyle Drake (Jr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) won the 200 individual medley (1:59.92.). Doug Schranck (So., Alton, Ill./Marquette Catholic) won the 100 butterfly (55292). Alex Van Huis (Sr., Winneconne, Wis.) finished second in both the 500 freestyle (4:58.89) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:10.55). Eric Ross (So., West Lafayette, Ind./Harrison) took third place in the 1,000 freestyle (10:13.19), as did Nathan Ripley (Sr., Middleton, Wis.) in the 100 freestyle (49.02). The Red Men travel to Evanston, Ill., on Saturday, Jan. 16 to take on both Northwestern University and Lewis University in a 1 p.m. meet at Northwestern's Norris Aquatics Center.
