Brandy Johnston

Brandy Johnston is in her fourth year at the helm of the women's golf program in 2022-23 and third season being promoted to Director of Golf in September 2020. In her first year at Carthage, the women's team won their first CCIW Championship since 2014, their seventh title in program history, and had five all-conference honors. Johnston was named the CCIW Coach of the Year, the program's first honor since 2014. She coached Adrienne Rohwedder to WGCA All-Great Lakes Region honors and set program records for the season scoring average at 316.0, and broke the two-day score record at the UW-Whitewater Invitational with a 615.

In her second season with the women's team, the Firebirds finished second at the CCIW Championship and Johnston grabbed her second consecutive CCIW Coach of the Year honor as she coached Kate Munro to a WGCA All-Great Lakes Region honor. Munro, Madi McCoy, and Alina Brindza were also CCIW All-conference selections during the tournament. 

In 2022, the Firebirds women's golf team qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2015 after winning their second CCIW Championship in three years. The team set new school records in every team scoring category including a new season scoring average of 313.04 along with setting two CCIW records. 

During her first season with the men's team, the squad took third at the CCIW Championships as Zachary Shawhan became the 12th Carthage men's golf player in program history to win the CCIW Men's Golf Individual Championship. Shawhan was also named to the Division III Ping All-Central Region Team. 

Johnston came to Carthage after seven years as the head women's golf coach at Franklin High School from 2013 to 2019, and the head coach of the boys team in 2019 at Muskego High School. During her career at Franklin, she helped guide the Sabers to a Southeast Conference Championship for five-straight seasons, and finished in the top-five at the WIAA State Championships in 2015 and 2017. Johnston was tabbed the Southeast Conference Coach of the Year in 2018, and was selected as the Area Coach of the Year in 2015 by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Johnston spent a year and a half as an LPGA Teaching Professional at the Muskego Lakes Country Club, where she coordinated a junior golf program of over 80 golfers, and has been an LPGA Member Apprentice since 2017. A graduate of Indiana University in 1996, she was a three-year letterwinner with the women's golf program and was an Academic All-Big Ten selection from 1994-96.
