Ryan Castle

Ryan Castle was appointed Carthage College’s women’s water polo head coach in July 2019 and finished his first season at Carthage with a 3-4 record.  Castle was the head women's water polo coach at NCAA Division I Indiana University from 2017 to 2019, where he compiled a 52-36 career record with the Hoosiers.  Castle's 2018 team went 25-9 and finished third in the College Water Polo Association's Division I tournament.
 
Prior to Indiana, Castle was the associate head coach at the University of Hawaii for the 2015 and 2016 seasons.  Castle helped guide the Rainbow Warriors to the 2015 Big West Tournament Championship and an appearance in the 2015 NCAA Championship.

Castle served as an assistant coach at the University of Michigan from 2013-2014 and, prior to that, had a three-year stint as an assistant at Hartwick College.
  
Outside of the collegiate ranks, Castle has honed his craft with international teams, both at the junior and senior levels. Most recently, Castle held the reigns as the head coach of the Kazakhstan Women's Senior National Team, where he guided Kazakhstan to an appearance at the 2011 FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China.
 
A native of Cape Town, South Africa, Castle graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2001 with a bachelor's in information systems and earned a post-graduate credential in education in 2003.
