Women's Cross Country Ties for Third at the Sept. 24 Wheaton (Ill.) "Gil Dodds Invitational"

The Carthage College women's cross country team (16-6-1) tied for third place at the Saturday, Sept. 24 Wheaton College (Ill.) “Gil Dodds Invitational” at the St. James Farm Forest Preserve in Warrenville, Ill.

Washington University (Mo.) won the five-team event with 25 points, followed by North Central College second at 39, Carthage and Wheaton (Ill.) tied for third at 89 each and Benedictine University (Ill.) fifth with 150 points.

Liz Phillips from Washington (Mo.) won the 6K race with a time of 21:48.93. Carthage's Katie Kummerer (So., Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale-Central) finished seventh with a time of 22:32.49, and Karin Wirth (Jr., Springfield, Ill./Pleasant Plains) was 14th at 23:11.30. Morgan Wiechmann (Sr., Sleepy Hollow, Ill./Carpentersville—Dundee-Crown) was 24th at 23:45.43, Katie Schmidt (Sr., Lemont, Ill.) 42nd at 24:39.74 and Grace Heal (So., Sycamore, Ill.) 49th at 24:58.58.

Also running for the Lady Reds were Anabel Martinez (Jr., Aurora, Ill./East Aurora) 56th at 25:20.08, Bridget Driscoll (Jr., Tinley Park, Ill./Orland Hills-Andrew) 60th at 25:27.90, Alexis Kingery (Fr., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsee Valley) 62nd at 25:38.11, Kayla Arbet (Jr., Burlington, Wis./Salem-Westosha Central) 70th at 26:18.08, Samantha Godlewski (Fr., Racine, Wis./Lutheran) 75th at 26:52.93, Katie DeLisle (So., Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) 82nd at 27:27.08. Katie Garringer (Sr., Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East) 83rd at 27:33.90, Jodie Waller (Jr., Pleasant Prairie, Wis./Somers-Shoreland Lutheran) 89th at 28:22.02, Nikki Knieps (Sr., Tinley Park, Ill./Orland Hills-Andrew) 90th at 28:22.90, Hailey Ongman (So., Flossmoor, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) 93rd at 29:09.21, Rheanne Pahl (Fr., Media, Pa./Strath Haven) 94th at 29:57.11 and Ashley Mikkola (Fr., Sanford, Mich./Midland) 95th at 30:03.46.

Carthage is idle on Saturday, Oct. 1 and returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Wisconsin-Parkside “Lucia Rose Invitational” at the Wisconsin-Parkside National Cross Country Course in Somers, Wis., beginning at 11 a.m.
