NCAA Women's Volleyball Selection Show Monday Morning at 10 a.m.

Carthage expects to be one of the top-seeded teams at the one of the Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 12-14 NCAA Division III regional championships. Pairings for the 62-team national championship will be announced by the NCAA on Monday morning, Nov. 9, and six of the eight regional sites were announced on Nov. 4. Carthage will probably be sent to Wisconsin-Oshkosh for the Midwest Regional, but possibly to either Hope College for the Great Lakes Regional or Washington University (Mo.) for the Central Regional. The other three announced sites are Juanita College in Huntingdon, Pa.., New York University in New York, N.Y., and Tufts University in Medford, Mass.  Click here to watch the championship selection show on the NCAA's web site beginning at 10 a.m., CST on Monday.

Carthage's 24th Varsity Sports Begins in 2009-10
Carthage launches its 24th varsity sport in 2009-10, as the women's lacrosse team begins varsity play with a March 9-13 trip to Southern California.
Coach Leanne Ulmer
Head women's volleyball coach Leanne Ulmer entered the 2009 season with a .759 winning percentage over seven seasons, which ranks 12th among active NCAA Division III coaches.  Ulmer has won six CCIW titles in nine years at Carthage, inclduing a  shared title in 2004 and outright titles in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Carthage's "Mr. Touchdown"
The last living member of Carthage's first football team, the 1895 squad, was William Simmons, "02.  Simmons was honored at a 1958 Carthage game for scoring the Red Men's first-ever home touchdown in an 18-0 win over Quincy University on Nov. 28, 1895 in Carthage, Ill.  Simmons scored on a 75-yard fumble recovery.
Coach Brady Lindsley
Carthage women's tennis coach Brady Lindsley won his 200th career match in the fall of 2009.  Lindsley, with a 204-79 record heading into the spring 2010 portion of the season, has been named CCIW "Women's Tennis Coach of the Year" three times.
