Bosko Djurickovic

  • Title
    Former Men's Basketball Head Coach
Bosko Djurickovic completed his 24th season as Carthage’s head in 2019-20 after a stellar career (1985-1994) at North Park University. He officially announced his retirement from coaching in July 2020, effective August 1, 2020.

In 34 years at the helm, his record is 567-326 (371-247 in 24 years at Carthage, 196-79 in 10 years at North Park), for an overall winning percentage of .635.

Djurickovic’s 567 victories rank 30th all-time among NCAA Division III coaches, while his winning percentage at Carthage (.600) ranks second on the school’s all-time list, and his 371 wins ranks him first all-time, ahead of Herbert “Hub” Wagner (170-107, 1928-43). His 305 career CCIW wins places second only to Illinois Wesleyan University’s Dennie Bridges on the all-time list.

The Red Men rose to the national spotlight just four years into his tenure, winning the CCIW championship in 1999, the first for the program in 35 years. Djurickovic has gone on to win five conference championships over his 24 seasons in Kenosha, while the program only had one championship (1964) in the first 50 years of competing in the CCIW. The Red Men also made four NCAA tournament appearances on Bosko’s watch, including a run to the 2002 Final Four, a year in which the Red Men finished with a win in the third-place game and an overall record of 28-2. They also made a trip to the Elite 8 and two appearances in the sweet sixteen.

At North Park (1985-94), Djurickovic coached two NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship teams, one in 1985 and the other in 1987. His teams in the mid 1980s set an NCAA Division III record with 62 consecutive home wins from February 1984 to February 1988, and five of his players were named National Association of Basketball Coaches All-Americans.  All 10 of his North Park teams were nationally ranked at some point in their seasons.

In addition to his two championship squads, Djurickovic's North Park teams made NCAA appearances in 1986 and 1990. He was named Basketball Times "Coach of the Year" in 1985, National Association of Basketball Coaches/Kodak Division III "Coach of the Year" in 1987, NABC Midwest Region “Co-Coach of the Year” in 2010 and CCIW “Coach of the Year” in 2002, 2010 & 2017. Prior to assuming the Vikings' men's basketball duties, Djurickovic served as an assistant from 1975 to 1984 when North Park won an NCAA-record three consecutive Division III tiles in 1978, 1979 and 1980.

Djurickovic also served as North Park's head baseball coach from 1977 to 1994 and the athletic director from 1987 to 1990. He served as the chair of the NCAA Division III Baseball Mideast Regional Championship Committee from 1988 to 1990 and chair of the NCAA Division III Baseball Central Regional Championship Committee from 1991 to 1994. While at Carthage, he served as a member of the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Central Regional Championship Committee.

Djurickovic and his wife, Becky, live in Kenosha, Wis., and have three children:  Amanda (a Carthage graduate and a part-time Carthage sports information assistant), Steve (Carthage’s all-time leading men’s basketball scorer and the current head coach) and Pete (a four-year Carthage football player who graduated in 2013). Becky Djurickovic was the women’s basketball coach at North Park University for six years (1987-89 and 1993-95) and the girls basketball coach at Kenosha Bradford High School for three seasons (2004-06).
