KENOSHA, WI. - Carthage College Director of Athletics
Robert Bonn announced Tuesday the hiring of Chris Barker as the Director of Athletic Operations at Carthage.
"Chris is an exciting addition to our athletics department," Bonn said Tuesday. "He has an exceptional educational background and the appropriate athletic/sport experience to enhance the opportunities for our athletes and staff. Above all else, his work ethic and personality are a great fit for us."
Barker will be overseeing game day operations, student-athlete eligibility, as well as assisting in all areas of the Athletic Department.
Prior to joining Carthage, Barker was general manager of Hitters Baseball in Caledonia, Wis., and served as an assistant baseball coach at Delaware State University from 2011 to 2014.

As GM of Hitters Baseball, Chris oversaw the organizational budget of the largest indoor-hitting facility in the Midwest and was responsible for the coordination of marketing and promotions, community service and charity events, website design and maintenance, facility scheduling and contracts, design, maintain and implementation of instructional classes and manage employee scheduling and training.
As assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Delaware State, Barker was responsible for the coordination of the recruitment of incoming freshmen and transferring student-athletes. He organized, marketed and raised the attendance by 40% of the "First State Prospect Camp", managed equipment and apparel budges and coordinated scheduled the team travel.
Additionally, while at Delaware State as a graduate assistant, Chris helped in the development of a Grant proposal to help increase the academic quality and retention efforts of the first generation African American Males within the university's undergraduate sport management program.
Barker split his baseball collegiate-playing career at Madison Area Technical College and the University of North Carolina-Greensboro. As a sophomore, Chris earned a NJCAA Division II Rawlings Gold Glove Award after posting a .978 fielding percentage as an outfielder.
A Racine, Wis. native, Chris is married to Emily Barker, an admissions counselor at Cardinal Stritch University. Barker received his bachelor's in 2011 from the UNC-Greensboro in communication studies and received his master's from Delaware State in sports administration in 2014. Chris and Emily currently reside in Oak Creek.
