From Reedsburg, Wis., Nancy (Mayer) Bucheger lettered three times in softball (1988, 1990-91) and was named first-team All-CCIW all three seasons. Bucheger is Carthage’s career leader in home runs (19), slugging percentage (.717) and runs scored (117). She’s ranked second on the Lady Reds’ career batting list with a .413 average, fifth in base hits (143), second in stolen bases (29), fifth in RBI (91), fifth in on-base percentage (.471), tied for sixth in triples (8) and ranked seventh in doubles (25). She set season records in 1991 with seven home runs, 56 base hits and 45 runs scored (the latter equaled by current Carthage coach Amy Gillmore in 1994). Bucheger was named National Softball Coaches Association NCAA Division III All-Midwest Regional in both 1988 and 1990.
