A four-year letter winner, Missy Hazelwood was Carthage’s first ever women’s golfer to qualify for the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship, finishing tied for 35th place with an 86-82-80-81-329.  A three-time captain for the Lady Reds, Missy was twice named the team MVP and recognized as Division II & III National Golf Coaches All-Scholar Team in 1998, 1999 and 2000 and received the Stephen B. Dozier Scholarship in 2000.  In addition to medaling twice in tournaments Hazelwood finished her career with an 87.95 career mark and was named the Senior Athlete of the Year as well as a co-winner of the J.F. Simmons Award for a career.  She earned All-CCIW honors three times, finishing fifth in the 1997 CCIW Women's Golf Championship, seventh in 1998 and fourth in 1999.  
 
Still active with the program today, Missy continues to give back with an endowment for the Missy Hazelwood Golf Scholar-Athlete Award.
