Until Bosko Djurickovic won the CCIW basketball title in 2000, Larry Hamilton was the only Red Men coach to win a CCIW title. Hamilton, who compiled a 132-128 record in 11 seasons (1961-69 and 1984-85) won a CCIW co-championship in 1964. He also had a baseball background. A member of the University of Oklahoma’s 1952 NCAA championship team, Hamilton guided the 1961 Red Men squad. When he wasn’t working the sidelines, Hamilton worked the classroom as a professor of psychology and the winner of Carthage’s first Distinguished Teacher Award.
