From Kenosha, Wis., Ken Kohler lettered three times in track and field (1979-81) and was a 1981 NCAA Division III national champion in the 200-meter dash. Kohler also earned NCAA Division III All-American honors the same year by finishing fourth in the 400-meter dash and fifth as a member of a 400-meter relay team. He was named All-CCIW four times with first-place finishes in the 1980 400-meter dash, the 1981 200-meter dash and the 1981 400-meter dash.
