Joining the Carthage softball program in the fall of 2006 from Bloomington, Ill., Wickenhauser burst onto the scene, making 20 starts as a freshman while picking up eight wins. As a sophomore she picked up wins in 11 of her 16 starts, compiling an ERA of 1.94 while striking out 152 batters in 106.1 innings pitched. She was named to the All-Great Lakes Region Third Team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) for her efforts in 2008, but continued to elevate her game as she became an upperclassmen.

During the 2009 season Wickenhauser started 19 games for Carthage, throwing 16 complete games and compiling 14 victories. Striking out 186 across 134.1 innings of work, she recorded the second-lowest ERA in a single season at the time at 0.83. She earned the first of her two first team all-conference honors and was selected to the NFCA All-Region Second Team. She would repeat her 14-win season as a senior in 2010, giving her the seventh-most wins in a single season. After breaking the school record for strikeouts in a season with 219, Wickenhauser ended her career with 666 total, which ranks second all-time in program history. She helped guide the Carthage softball team to a 25-15 record and a CCIW Championship as a senior, earning a spot on the NFCA All-Region First Team.

On top of her career strikeout numbers, Wickenhauser holds a place in the school record books for career ERA at 1.64 which ranks third, career complete games at 59 which ranks third, and career wins with 47 which ranks fourth. She was a three-time CCIW Jack Swartz Academic Award winner while at Carthage, earning the honor as a sophomore, junior, and senior.
