Joe Simmons lettered three times in football (1913-15), three times in basketball (1914-16), four times in baseball (1914-17) and four times in track and field (1914-17). He went on to a career with the U.S. Marines, serving in both World War I and World War, the latter in the U.S. Marines Special Services. Between the wars, Simmons coaches at several schools, including a stint as an assistant football coach at Yale University from 1937 to 1939.
