From Chicago, James Martin lettered four times in baseball (1951-54) and once in football (1950). He went on to teach and coach baseball and football at Milwaukee Lutheran High School and later at Arrowhead High School in Hartland, Wis. Martin was a founder and past president of the Wisconsin High School Baseball Coaches Association and was inducted into the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1981.
