The Bloemfontein, South Africa native joined the Carthage women's tennis team in the fall of 2003, beginning one of the most dominant careers in the program's history. After an impressive freshman season in which she won the first of her four consecutive first-team all-CCIW honors, she was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American as a sophomore in doubles paired with Hall of Famer Kelly (Mikkila) Schmidgall. Maree would go on to earn All-American status in doubles once more during her time with the program, this time with Amanda Sta. Romana, as the duo set the Carthage record for doubles wins in a season with 28, and consecutive doubles victories after winning 18 straight matches.
Maree ended her career on campus as the Carthage women's tennis program's all-time leader in singles wins with 100, and combined victories with 206. She was the CCIW Jack Swartz All-Academic award winner during her sophomore year.
