From Sussex, Wis., Christa (Goetz) Botsford lettered four times each in women’s basketball (1992-95) and softball (1992-95). In basketball, she is the only Carthage player ever named the CCIW’s “Most Outstanding Women’s Basketball Player.” Botsford earned that honor, as well as first-team All-CCIW honors in 1995 with an 18.5 scoring mark and an .809 free-throw percentage. She is ranked fifth among Carthage’s career scoring leaders (1,536 points), fifth in field goals (557), fifth in field-goal attempts (1,278), sixth in field-goal percentage (.436), fifth in three-point field goals (58), fifth in three-point field-goal attempts (196), third in three-point field-goal percentage (.296), first in free-throws (364), second in free-throw attempts (453) and first in free-throw percentage (.804). Botsford set a season record in 1994 with 491 points, and her 19.6 scoring average that season is second only to Kathy (Mucha) Acker’s 21.7 mark in 1976. She set another school record in 1993 with an .831 free-throw percentage (98-118). Botsford lettered four times in softball (1992-95) and was a three-time first-team All-CCIW pitcher. She threw a perfect game in an 11-0 win over North Park University on April 17, 1995.
