Carthage College Athletics

From Jacksonville, Ill., Bill Versen lettered four times in track and field (1975-78). He was named an NCAA Division III All-American in 1977 with a first-place finish in the shot put and fourth in the discus at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship. Versen repeated as an All-American in 1978, placing second in the shot put. He won the shot put four-straight years at the CCIW Outdoor Track and Field Championship and added a discus title at the 1978 championship. Versen still holds Carthage records for both the indoor and outdoor shot put. He also lettered on the 1975 football team.
