Wheaton College (Ill.) won its 15th league championship and fifth in a row with 72 points, 17 points ahead of second-place Carthage at 55.  North Central College was third at 39, followed by Augustana College (Ill.) fourth at 26, Illinois Wesleyan University fifth at 24, Elmhurst College sixth with five points and Millikin University seventh with three points. Number-one singles player Gina Klein (Sr., Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South, 10-7), number-two singles player Beth Kaufman (Sr., Barrington, Ill., 7-3) and number-three singles player Hollis McPeek (So., Lake Bluff, Ill./Lake Forest, 12-5) were named first-team all-conference, and McPeek also earned conference tournament MVP honors. ]]></description><enclosure url="http://athletics.carthage.edu/images/2009/7/27//rp_primary_Hollis%20McPeek%205.JPG" length="151255" type="image/jpg" /><pubDate>Wed, 14 Oct 2009 23:11:33 GMT</pubDate></item><item><title>I Love St. Peter; Part 29 </title><link>http://athletics.carthage.edu/news/2009/10/12/General_1012091917.aspx</link><category>Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis, General</category><description><![CDATA[<img src="http://athletics.carthage.edu/images/2009/10/12/rp_primary_St. Peter, Minn..jpg" /><br /><br />Carthage College tennis coach Brady Lindsley made his 29th career trip to Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., on Oct. 2-4, 2009 for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association&rsquo;s Midwest Regional Men&rsquo;s Tournament. Lindsley has made 16 trips with the Carthage men&rsquo;s tennis team, including 11 Rolex/Intercollegiate Tennis Association tournaments and five NCAA appearances. He has made 10 other trips to Gustavus Adolphus with the women&rsquo;s tennis team, including seven Rolex/ITA tournaments and three NCAA appearances. In addition, Lindsley made the trip three times as a Carthage player between 1992 and 1995. At 408 miles one way, or 816 round-trip miles, Lindsley has covered 23,664 miles in those 28 trips. Carthage lost to CCIW-opponent and the host-Thunder (3-1, 2-0 CCIW), 8-1, before shutting out Judson University (Ill., 4-1), 9-0.  On Sunday, Sept. 13, the Lady Reds blanked conference-opponent Millikin University (0-3, 0-2 CCIW), 9-0, at Fairfield Park in Decatur, Ill.

For Carthage coach Brady Lindsley, the win was number 200 in his 13-year coaching career (200-76, 13 years).

Carthage defeated CCIW-opponent Augustana College (Ill., 2-2, 0-1), 7-2, before blanking conference-opponent Elmhurst College (1-2, 0-2), 9-0.  Carthage&rsquo;s Gina Klein (Sr., Darien, Ill./Hinsdale South, 4-0) won both of her number-one singles matches.
