Carthage College will help launch the nation’s newest varsity lacrosse league in 2010 with the formation of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference. Seven teams will be inaugural members of the circuit. Those seven are Adrian College, Albion College, Carthage, Fontbonne University, the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Trine University and the College of Mount St. Joseph. Carthage College added its 23rd varsity sport in 2009, as the men’s lacrosse team began its first year of varsity competition. Women’s lacrosse will begin in 2010. Head men’s coach David Neff has been on board at Carthage since September 2007. The Red Men played a 17-game schedule in 2009, including 10 games against NCAA Division III opponents, five against club teams and two against NAIA teams.
