INDIANAPOLIS—Carthage College women's track & field thrower Morgan Young is among 543 nominees for the 2017 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Woman of the Year award. The award honors graduating female college athletes who have exhausted their eligibility and distinguished themselves in academics, athletics, service and leadership throughout their collegiate careers.

The recent graduate came off a stellar performance at the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Women's Track & Field Championship, where she claimed All-American honors in both the shot put (2^nd place, 14.61) and discus (5^th place, 44.92m). Both those marks contributed 12 of the Lady Reds' 33 points at the national outdoor meet, which gave them a program-high third-place finish at the event.
 
Young pulled down 2017 CCIW Outdoor Female Field Athlete of the Meet, where she tallied both the shot put (14.17m) and discus (47.04m) titles.
 
The Mahomet, Ill. native also qualified for the 2017 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Meet, where she registered ninth place in the shot put (13.66m).
 
Young capped off her four-year career with two indoor, and three outdoor All-American marks. She also claimed two indoor, and five outdoor individual CCIW titles throughout her four years.
 
Next, each conference within the NCAA landscape will select up to two of their nominees. The NCAA Woman of the Year committee will select 30 finalists based off the list of conference nominees. The top-30 honorees will be recognized and the 2017 NCAA Woman of the Year will be announced at the annual award ceremony on October 22 in Indianapolis.
