WARRENVILLE, ILL.—The Carthage College women's cross country team entered Saturday's CCIW Cross Country Championship off a two-week hiatus. The Lady Reds couldn't match their fifth-place standing achieved at last season's event as they registered sixth place out of nine teams with 155 points on Saturday. Wheaton College (Ill.) pulled down the 2017 CCIW Women's Cross Country Championship with 17 points, while Hannah Roeske represented them with the individual championship when she crossed the finish line at 22:18.2. Roeske's efforts landed her CCIW Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year, and Freshman of the Year. Wheaton (Ill.) also claimed 2017 CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year.

Alanna Varnas paced Carthage for the fourth-consecutive meet when she crossed the finish line at 23:06.8. Varnas's career-best time, which secured her 15
th place out of 82 runners, was a :53 improvement from the UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational on October 14.
Maddy Schwartz was the second Lady Reds finisher with a 38
th-place time of 24:19.9.
Marisa Monbrod registered 40
th place with a career-best 24:31.0. Monbrod's time was a :47 improvement from her previous career-best 25:16.68 achieved at the UW-Oshkosh Kollege Town Sports Invitational on October 14.

Molly McQueeny tallied 45
th place with a 24:42.1, while
Elena Kelsh notched a career-best 24:45.1.
Carly Egan followed with a 24:48.7, which missed a career-best by :04.
Kaylie VanOrd was on Egan's tracks with a 24:54.5, while
Brianna Kloster trailed her by :04 with a 24:58.1.
Amanda Goecke (25:06.7) and
Kate Wille (25:24.1) rounded out the Lady Reds top-seven finisher list.

Carthage will return to action at the 2017 NCAA Division III Cross Country Midwest Region Meet on Saturday, November 11 at the Saukie Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill. Meet time is set for 11:00 a.m.
