WARRENVILLE, ILL.—The Carthage College men's cross country team entered Saturday's CCIW Cross Country Championship at the St. James Farm Forest Preserve in Warrenville, Ill. off a two-week hiatus. The Red Men, who achieved their highest finish at the event since 1977 last season (3^rd place), settled for a fourth-place score of 93 points on Saturday. The Red Men achieved six career-best times on the afternoon.
 
#1 North Central College (Ill.) occupied the top-seven spots on the individual leaderboard en route to their 44^th-consecutive CCIW Men's Cross Country Country Championship with 15 points. The Cardinals' Jared Borowsky claimed the CCIW Individual Championship with a time of 24:41.8, a six-second cushion from teammate Dhruvil Patel's 24:47.3.
 
Borowsky claimed 2017 CCIW Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Year, and Freshman of the Year. North Central (Ill.) landed 2017 CCIW Coaching Staff of the Year.
 
Carthage's Suneed Ahmed paced all runners who didn't represent North Central (Ill.) when he crossed the finish line at 25:37.2 to secure eighth place out of 83 runners. His mark edged his previous career-best 25:56.8 at the Carleton College Running of the Cows on September 30. Dan Cotton registered a season-best 25:55.2, good enough for 12^th place. His time was :14 off from his career-best 25:41.6 achieved at the 2014 NCAA Midwest Regional on September 27, 2014.
 
Logan Engberg, who clocked-in a career-best 26:09.4, was the third Red Men to cross the finish line. Camren Howard snuck into the top-25 with a mark of 26:33.7, a season-best. David Fish crossed the finish line at 26:48.8 to secure 32^nd place. His mark edged his previous season-best, achieved at the Carleton College Running of the Cows on September 30 (26:50.7), by two seconds. Steven Wright (26:56.1) and Thomas Edwards (27:21.0) rounded out the Red Men top-seven finisher list.
 
Thomas Olenek (27:22.5), Zachary Minda (27:31.8) and Matt August (27:40.9) also competed at the 2017 CCIW Men's Cross Country Championship. Olenek and Minda's marks were career-bests.
 
The Red Men will return to action at the 2017 NCAA Division III Midwest Region Meet on Saturday, November 11 at the Saukie Municipal Golf Course in Rock Island, Ill. Meet time is set for 11:00 a.m.
